This isn’t a regular tour - this is an invitation into someone’s home. Full-time resident of Blue Painted Lady house in Alamo Square, George, invites you into his home any day at 4.00 PM to tour the house and hear stories about San Francisco (he’s very well connected and a San Francisco history buff). He often does really intimate but very specials events at his house (like jazz concerts) and - while this tour is 100% am amazing event in itself - it’s also a way to get “in the in.” 😉

He lives in one of the most famous houses in San Francisco,

as seen on the opening to 90s sitcom Full House,

and countless other cultural memorabilia.

George started doing daily tours of this house.

He advertised them on his now viral TikTok account,

and people would just walk up to the door at 4 o'clock.

maintaining the historical integrity of the house.

His family is oddly intertwined with the legacy of San Francisco.

This house is a living museum of everything that

has happened in the city since the gold rush.

We've been here since 1849 with the gold rush.

He's never actually purchased anything for the house.

I don't think we've bought anything in the last 50 years.

as well as a penchant for immigration history.

Now George is kind of like a local celebrity.

People recognize him in Alamo Square and his dogs are famous,

Not infrequently I get bouquets of flowers,

and he's had a few really cool events at his house.

One of my favorite things that we do at the Pointed Lady is have chamber concerts,

and a lot of chamber music was written for small

And there were only 32 of us at the house.

It was basically like a really intimate house party.

People ask me how to get on the invite list,

but really the only way to go to George's house and get to know him.

There are tons of awesome rental houses on the Russian River with beach access.

this super charming place with a pool table and corky decor.

Most of these houses come loaded with everything you need for a fun river getaway.

The paddle was easy and the scenery was stunning.

We had a blast cheering on folks trying it out,

and of course we had to give it a go ourselves.

Everyone knows SF Summer is ironically filled with foggy days and cloudy grays.

Hidden in a corner are these at-home hot pot kits.

grab a conveniently pre-packed set of hot pot veggies and a box of rolled thinly.

so we enjoy both the spicy broth and a savory mushroom base.

Set up a portable burner or stove to simmer the broths and mix up your dipping sauces.

Then cook your choice of protein and veggies right at the table.

we also had a tea ceremony with some fresh green tea we picked up at H Mart.

This is the perfect meal and beverage for a cozy day curled up on the couch.

Escape the city and head straight for the clouds. This golden-hour plan takes you to Mt. Tam’s Bolinas Ridge, where you’ll find your way to one of Marin’s most breath-taking (and lesser-known) sunset spots

• Aim to leave the city about 2 hours before sunset, and don’t let Karl fool you! If it’s foggy in the city, there’s a good chance you’ll be above the clouds for the picnic.

• Bring a small cooler bag or insulated tote to keep everything fresh as you head up the ridge- especially if you’re grabbing anything melty or creamy.

• Bring layers! It can get chilly fast up there, even in the summer. A lightweight blanket can also double as both seating and warmth. 
• There is parking located about .2 miles south of Rock Springs Trailhead 

Have you ever wanted to have a picnic above the clouds?

This is my favorite spot to pick up picnic supplies.

Now it's time to head to Bolinas Ridge on Mount Tam.

There's tons of different spots along this road for a picnic,

Supplies and head to the trail across the road.

And don't forget to enjoy the view on the way up.

You'll see plenty of room at the top of the hill.

My favorite view overlooks Stinson Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

Now it's time to sit back and enjoy the view,

and don't forget to stay a few minutes after sunset for the best colors.
