My partner and I turned it into a nice date night and got there a little bit early.

but these events are hosted all over Portland.

They're a great way to take advantage of Portland's beautiful parks,

not to mention that there are vendors with popcorn,

It's a cozy community vibe kind of night,

Head to Pal’s on Hayden Island! 

the newest place for snacks and drinks along the Columbia River.

The snack bar actually originated at Suttle Lodge,

but they've since opened a location on Hayden Island,

It was super kid friendly and pet friendly.

Prices were a little bit higher than I expected,

but the price on the menu does include gratuity.

I think this is a great place for a tasty cocktail,

and of course a little bit of soft serve to end the night.

• Plan on going at least two hours before sunset so you have time to eat and hike the trails. It will get dark before scheduled sunset because of the hills!

💪 Pro tips
• There are picnic tables with a great view just a few steps from the parking lot, but there are also benches along several of the trails. If you want a more remote picnic, bring a TV tray so you can enjoy a bench-side dinner in style!

Cooper Mountain Nature Park

If you're in the mood for a sunset picnic surrounded by nature,

Cooper Mountain Nature Park is the place to go.

There are plenty of picnic benches and a playground right

next to the visitor center and the views are amazing.

Be sure to explore the trails where you'll get a chance to see open prairie,

I recommend heading to the Overlook where you can really soak in the scenery.

So pack up your picnic basket and head out.
