Visit L'Appartement 4F in Brooklyn Heights to enjoy a unique DIY croissant tasting, including a highly recommended Nutella croissant, in their upstairs seating area.

✅ Before you go:
• This tiny shop had lines around the block when it opened back in May. They’ve since died down, so it’s the perfect time to go! 
• That said, the baked goods do sell out, so aim to go as early as you can. We went at 9:15AM on a Saturday and only waited in line for about 15 mins

💪 Pro tips: 
• Order a bunch of the croissants for your own makeshift croissant flight/tasting
• Make sure you order the Nutella one, that was our fave!
• There's a nice seating area upstairs. It's quaint but has plenty of seats. Def try and snag a spot up there to chill for a bit before heading to the next spot.

• You’re about a 4 min walk from the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, which has beautiful views of the Manhattan skyline. If the weather cooperates, definitely walk along the water over there!

so you're ready to order once you make it inside.

We got one of each and brought our goods upstairs to do a DIY croissant flight.

The clear winner was the Nutella croissant with

the raspberry one coming in a close second.

Then make your way across the street to new local bookstore Books are Magic.

There's something for everyone here and I loved the sleek, minimalistic design.

We were drooling over the cookbook section and

grateful to have leftover croissants in our bag.

walk over to the Brooklyn Promenade where you can finish up

your leftover croissants and take a nice stroll along the water

Retired doctor turned chef Demira welcomed us into her home

to teach us how to make dumplings and other foods,

just like her mother and grandmother and so on.

but don't stress as they send you recipes

with the full measurements before each class.

a recipe is just a recommendation from one chef to

another and in this case from Demirah's grandmother to us.

It was such an amazing Homey experience where she told us sweet stories of cooking

with her family growing up and how she adores cooking with her grandchildren now.

and you could sense that throughout the class.

It's even better that it was such a collaborative,

after we had our dumplings and our salads,

it was time to gather around the table and enjoy

our Uzbeked feasts and hear more stories from Deira.

This was such a rare gem of an experience.

Did you know you can take the ferry to Rockaway Beach and get there in under an hour?

If you're looking for beach gear like towels and chairs,

we got ours from Target for under $10 each item,

The waves were huge and everyone was having the best time in the water.

I really wanted to make a little art piece that

we could bring home and commemorate the beach day.

So I had this idea to paint the sea and use glue to add sand and seashells.

It's super beginner friendly and I'm literally going to think about this beach

day every time I see our artwork hung up in our home.

We took the ferry back during sunset and the views were amazing.

it was time for Gary Ferrar's magic show.

part out because this magician was mischievous.

but then he would close the loop later on.

It was really well orchestrated and highly theatrical,

He definitely had us all walking away quite mystified and wondering how he did it.

we could see him having his own show in Vegas one day.

he has a show about once a month of the Algonquins,

so definitely try to catch him while he has his residency.

• bring everything you need (we packed a ton of food)
• once at Croton Harmon, get an uber to Croton Gorge Park (~$10) 

💪 Pro tips
• we saw people grilling - bring your own grill and everything you need if you want to barbecue 
• go early, we got there at 9am 
• it can get crowded and if you’re driving entrance fee is $10 and parking is limited
• highly recommend doing the footpath to the top of the dam (don’t bring too many things if you want to do this or take turns to go up)

Take the metro north to Croton Harmon

This is your sign to take the Metro North from

Grand Central to Croton Harman in under an hour.

Then take a 7 minute Uber to reach Croton Gorge Park and enjoy these stunning views.

We found a picnic table right under a tree with a view of the waterfall dam,

and enjoyed the views while feasting on all the food we brought.

An ice cream truck pulled up and we definitely got some!

We played some badminton and games we brought before

following the footpath to the top of the dam.

It was only 12 minutes to reach the top and oh wow,
