• Get creative with your meals… we dubbed this “the gourmet getaway” and made burgers (on brioche buns with sautéed onions and mushrooms + roasted garlic 🤤) one night and lobster grilled cheese and tomato basil soup the next)

• Getaway House has items for s'mores, but the hands down the best s'mores trick is using the cookies and cream Hershey’s chocolate vs the regular chocolate (thank me later), so bring your own. Also bring your own items if you want more than 2 s'mores during your stay
• They provide one small saucepan, one small frying pan, and one kettle, so bring your own pots if you want to make anything more elaborate (I brought a cast iron to roast our veggies on the open flame/grill)
• Lock that phone away and unplug!

• They’re open daily 9am-5pm (the gates close at 5, so be sure to give yourself plenty of time before)
• Adult admission is $5 ($4 for students) so bring cash to take care of that when you arrive 

💪 Pro tips
• This spot is 100 acres and there’s so much to explore, but don’t skip the 115-foot suspension bridge – that was pretty cool 
• There are the tallest trees in what looks like a tree farm adjacent to the memorial wall in the back of the property… it was so cool and it felt like we weren’t in Texas anymore for a moment 
• There are several seating areas throughout the gardens, we sat a few times and just took it all in. 

Hike and explore at East Texas Arboretum

quick little getaway to recharge inclusive of campfires,

tiny cabins, hikes and snuggles with my favorites...

this is my go to plan. First head about an hour and

a half east of Dallas to Getaway House in the LaRue, TX.

If you've never done a Getaway House, you must make this happen.

These adorable cabins are fully equipped with all the things you need to rest,

recharge and make all of your meals and they always remember the pups.

The first night we made some gourmet campfire burgers and

enjoyed some wine and quality time before campfire s'mores, of course.

The next morning I whipped up a French toast breakfast and we enjoyed a

slow morning before heading to the East Texas Arboretum to get our nature fix.

It spans 100 acres and has a really cool 115 ft suspension bridge,

some really interesting artifacts like this 18

My favorite part where these super tall trees

that made me forget that we were in Texas.

After we headed back to the cabin and fired up the grill for a

roasted tomato basil soup dinner with a casual side of lobster grilled cheese.

To round off the night, I whooped his butt in a card game before bed.

The next day, enjoy a slow morning before heading back to reality.

I'm so excited because one of my favorite

spots just launched their brand new Sunday brunch

buffet from 10:00 a.m. to 3 p.m. It comes with a fully stocked mimosa bar,

so your server will bring out a nice glass of champagne,

and you could just load up your mimosa with all of your favorite toppings.

They also have a Bloody Mary bar with so many garnishes,

One of my favorite parts about this brunch was The omelet station.

So you just fill out this omelet bar card at your table,

It is all so good and it's here at Culpepper.

it's only $27.82 and for kids it's only $9.82.

These red smashed potatoes were seasoned so well.

This prime sirloin was cooked to perfection,

It was crispy on the outside but perfectly cooked on the inside.

We had the most perfect night out at Palma and Ghost Donkey! We experienced an incredible dinner at Palma and sipped on super unique cocktails at Ghost Donkey. This was such a perfect way to kick off our summer and I can’t wait to go back to spend a night in paradise!

in Deep Ellum with the most delicious cocktails.

I got the glass slipper and Alyssa got the Cheech and Chong.

We also started out with some crab rangoons that were delicious.

so we listened to some great music while we enjoyed our dinner.

I got this jalapeno smash burger and it was so unique and amazing.

Alyssa got the shrimp tacos and she absolutely loved them.

We ranked each of our meals a 10 out of 10.

They have bright twinkling lights everywhere,

I got the Yoereo Sola and Alyssa got the Berto Tropical that came with.

and we of course had to end the night with some Mexican candy shots.

This was the best way to kick off summers,

so check out Pal Mangos Donkey as soon as you can.
