Pick strawberries at Biringer Farm in Arlington. A delightful experience with on-site weighing and paying, located just an hour from Seattle.

• Check their website to make sure the fields are open! The reason I love this farm is they are on it with keeping their u-pick info up to date. Check here: https://www.biringerfarm.com/ 

💪 Pro tips
• If you have flexible work hours/location, I highly recommend going on a weekday. Here’s how I did it:
 1) Leave Seattle at 8:30AM, drive 30-45 min to Narrative Coffee in Everett (https://narrative.coffee/)
2) Grab coffee/breakfast and work for ~2 hours
3) Drive to the farm around 11:00AM (30 min)
4) Pick berries for ~45 min
5) Leave Arlington around noon and drive an hour back to the city. 
With this schedule we avoided traffic in every direction, and it was the best two hour work break I could ask for!
• The U-pick price is currently $4.25 per pound, and if there’s a change you’ll see it on their website. There’s a $10 minimum for picking. Our full basket was $18
• If you miss strawberry szn, raspberries come next (should be late June)


Pick berries at Biringer Farm

It's strawberry season and you can pick delicious berries an hour from the city.

It’ll be much less crowded on a weekday,

so if you have a somewhat flexible work schedule,

check the plan details for tips on how to pull it off midweek.

But here's what you can expect at the farm.

You'll head inside to grab your basket and the staff

will direct you to the area that's ripe for picking.

I can't believe I've never done this before.

It was the most pleasant little scavenger hunt.

Resisting the temptation to eat them right in the field was tough.

Once you filled your basket head inside to weigh

and pay and grab a quick strawberry flavored treat.

The season doesn't last long. So get out there this week.

Forge a knife from a horseshoe at Lawless Forge in Seattle, embracing a unique blacksmithing experience.

• There are two Washington locations for Lawless Forge, so, pick the one that’s closest to you (SoDo in Seattle or Marysville) before you sign up for your class.
• You can view all their locations and class options at: www.lawlessforge.com. The horseshoe knife making class we did was $90/person, and was well worth every penny!

💪 Pro tips
• Make sure you wear clothes you don’t mind getting a little dirty! Forging isn’t a clean activity, and your hands and clothing WILL get messy!

Come with me to be a blacksmith for a day

as we forge knives from horseshoes with Lawless Forge.

we'll stop by Ghostfish Brewing just a short drive from the forge for a bite to eat.

You can either grab a seat inside or outside if the weather is nice enough.

You'll don your protective gear and admire all the anvils.

Pick the anvil you want to work at and listen carefully as Ben,

your blacksmithing instructor, takes you step by step through the process

of turning half a horseshoe into a full-fledged, completely usable knife.

Every time your hammer makes contact with your horseshoe,

you'll feel more and more like you've stepped back into the

medieval times to craft a sword for your next quest.

This was hands down one of the coolest crafting activities I've ever done.

So, grab a friend, or a date, and become a blacksmith for a day.

• Reuben’s has multiple locations around Seattle, but their Ballard location is definitely my favorite! 
• Be sure to come hungry because their pretzels food they serve from their built-in food truck is well worth it! 

💪 Pro tips
• Even if you aren’t a big beer drinker, they have hard seltzers and ciders that you can enjoy. While typical beers aren’t usually my go-to, their Gose sour beer was amazing 🤩

After enjoying Reuben’s Brews, stroll to Sweet Alchemy Ice Creamery in Ballard for a delightful scoop of their unique or vegan ice cream flavors in a waffle cup.

• You can always drive to Sweet Alchemy, but, why not walk off the delicious food you just had at Reuben’s at earn your ice cream? 😉

💪 Pro tips
• There are several vegan options that were absolutely delicious 🤤  my boyfriend and I both got the Vegan Raspberry Chocolate Chip, but I also indulged in a rich half scoop of chocolate decadence (aka the Darkside).
• P.S.- You read that right! I was able to get two half scoops of different flavors in my waffle cup!

Take a short walk over to Sweet Alchemy for some ice cream 🍨

• Parking at Alki Arts was incredibly easy. If we had arrived with more time, it would have been great to walk around the block because it looked like there were a few cute shops to explore!

but this sip and paint night with Stir Up the Paint made me feel

like, maybe just maybe, I might have an artistic bone in my body.

So head to Alki Arts in West Seattle with me to become an artist for the night.

Alki Arts was an incredible venue filled with beautiful,

inspiring artwork from true professionals that had me in awe.

We took a look at the painting we were going to attempt to create,

then grabbed a glass of wine before class started.

It was incredible just how quickly every brush stroke filled the canvas and

began to transform a blank slate into a surprisingly passable piece of artwork.

was encouraging and helped each of us feel empowered

and confident as we worked through the details

to create our Lighthouse at Sunset masterpieces.
