Head to the Navy Pier Beer Garden for Live on the Lake!

Okay, I finally found something worth braving the Navy Pier tourists for.

Take a stroll down Navy Pier to find the beer garden,

which hosts a free summer concert series called Live On the Lake! every weekend.

We grabbed drinks and posted up in these colorful picnic chairs to watch the band.

But the music was so good, we couldn't stay sitting for long.

I loved the energy that the musicians brought and

this lady dancing put the hugest smile on my face.

And of course, we couldn't leave the pier without getting a rainbow cone.

I usually avoid the crowds of tourist destinations,

but I promise this was the best summer afternoon.

We walked all along Division Street in Humboldt Park,

We also stopped in a number of locally owned

She gave us some samples when we walked in and everything was so delicious.

I am definitely going back to purchase a full dessert.

Then I decided to venture out a little bit on my own.

you have to check out Gigi's Chicken Shop on Southport.

It's a cute little place that specializes in all things chicken,

So we ordered the original fried chicken sandwich,

but you can also get it with rotisserie chicken,

I loved the addition of pickled red onions here,

and having both like kale and Brussels salad in it
