💪 Pro tips
• Terra has a table-side gelato cart service, which is a fun spectacle available at any time of day. Upon request, you can add liqueurs to your gelato, as well as fun toppings. 
• If you’re looking to avoid the crowds or work nearby and need a quick midday lunch, it’s easy to get a table on a weekday!
• The brunch menu features their famous Tiramisu Pancakes, but they sell-out quickly! I recommend booking an earlier reservation if that's up your alley.

• If you order three or more items off the sushi menu, they'll bring the rolls and sashimi on a sushi tower! 
• Mastro's has live music every night of the week at the Westfield Valley Fair location–it's the perfect ambiance to get a dirty martini and a basket of fries. 
• If you’re looking to avoid the crowds or work nearby and need a quick midday lunch, it’s easy to get a table on a weekday!

• You can adjust the sweetness and the ice-level in your drink to customize it to your own preferences. My favorite is the Honey Tea at a 25% sweetness level and 100% ice.

• Din Tai Fung is one of the mall's most popular dining options, with tons of visitors flocking in for dim sum. I highly recommend a reservation, or you could be looking at an hour-long wait.

• You won't want to skip out on dessert at Din Tai Fung–the Chocolate XLB Dumplings were one of the favorite items we ordered! 
• If you're looking to kill time while waiting for a table, you can watch the chefs wrap dumplings in the open kitchen at the entrance of the restaurant.

Ice Cream at Salt & Straw

Whenever I'm in San Jose, one of my go-to stops is the Westfield Valley Fair,

not only for some of the best shopping in the Bay Area,

but for the plethora of good eats in the mall.

Here's my roundup of some favorite eats for any occasion.

I absolutely love going to Terra, which is one of Eataly’s restaurants.

This is my preferred brunch spot because they have

an amazing outdoor patio and a robust menu.

you can opt for breakfast pasta, or if you have a sweet tooth like me,

I can't leave without shopping around their market, and I

had to grab one of their fresh baked cookies.

If you're a surf and turf lover craving an upscale experience, 

Mastro's is the perfect spot for your next lunch date.

It's an ideal excuse to enjoy an afternoon cocktail,

take in some sunshine on the patio, and indulge in this gorgeous sushi tower.

The service is wonderful and it's an equally great experience enjoying

an evening here as they have live music every night.

If I'm shopping around, I typically need either caffeine

or a sweet treat to keep me going, and I love stopping by 

They have tons of different tea flavors and you

can customize your drink however you like it.

I love getting their honey tea as it's not super sweet and it's really refreshing.

my craving for dim sum never dwindles, and dinner at Din

Tai Fung is always a must if I’m at this mall.

Some of my favorites on the menu are the Sticky Rice Siu Mai,

the Chicken XLB, and their chocolate dessert dumplings,

My favorite dessert at this mall, to absolutely no

surprise, is ice cream from Salt & Straw. 

They practically lure you to the store with the wafting smell of waffle cone.

They always have great seasonal flavors and very generous scoops.

This time I went for their brownie batter flavor in

These spots only scratch the surface of the amazing eats in this mall,

and I can't wait to head back down and check another place off my list!

• Patio seating is communal so walk towards the back and ask the staff for seating. They’ll point you to available seats.

• Try to arrive as close to opening to avoid the long food waits or risking it selling out for the night
• Lovely’s also offers Hot Dogs – worth a try!

We got the Drive-Thru burger with cheese,

Add a cold drink and suddenly your random weeknight feels like a plan.

1. Visit Emporium Arcade Bar 🕹️

Here's an easy way to shake up your weeknight routine.

Grab a friend and pull up to Emporium Arcade Bar.

We got there around 6 and basically had the whole place to ourselves.

No waiting and straight into the games —

which is how we ended up playing for 2 hours straight.

Just shutting our brains off and getting a little competitive.

So save this for when you need a real reset after work.

Pregame at Farley’s Coffee while you wait

Indulge in classic brunch favorites, especially the famous crispy potatoes, at Plow—San Francisco's beloved, bustling weekend hotspot. Expect a wait, but enjoy friendly staff and cozy vibes.

• I’m serious, the wait time can be two hours, so don’t stray too far when it’s about time. They do have an outdoor bench area where you can wait, and warm woolen blankets.
• Come on the weekdays if you want a shorter wait.
• Despite the busyness, the staff was so friendly!
• Their potatoes may be their most famous item. I especially loved the crispy skins.
• SME friend recommends…everything.

Brunch at Plow

I have a friend who swears by this walk-in only

brunch place and will wait for a table for hours.

I got her to take us to see what all the hype is about.

Plow is apparently SF's number one brunch

spot evinced by its popularity among locals.

We showed up Sunday morning with a bunch of other hungry brunchers

hovering like vultures because they call it your name instead of texting.

The technique is to drop your name at the host

stand and hang out for your wait time at Farley's,

which is across the street and inviting in its own right.

Peruse their magazines or catch up with friends as

you pregame with coffee and a buttery croissant,

which samples their signature selection of classic brunch foods,

while even the quality of humble fare such as eggs and potatoes was top tier.

My prosciutto gruyere toast was so delicious I even

devoured the salad they hid underneath the egg.
