At Hammock Grove Play Area, engage in an exciting outdoor obstacle course. Water station nearby, and you might even spot some sheep!

Relax at Hammock Grove on Governors Island, where plenty of hammocks await for a chill reading session. Bring a book and perhaps a blanket to enhance the experience.

• you can hike up the hill to get to the top of the slide or climb the rocks next to the slide
• there are other slides that are shorter next to the big one 
• be careful, this slide is pretty fast but so so fun!!

Hike up Outlook Hill for breathtaking views and a rewarding trek up the rocks or slope. Perfect for photo ops overlooking Lower Manhattan.

• Hike up the rocks, there’s also a slope but this felt more fun and the view was so rewarding! 
• Highly recommend photos at the top of the rock and the view of lower Manhattan 📸

Hike up Outlook hill 

At Taco Vista, enjoy tasty burritos by the water, bask in the sunset, and enjoy a resort-like ambiance at Governors Island. Open until late on weekends.

art and food - I have the most relaxing day trip plan for you that's affordable and fun!

We took a free ferry from Brooklyn to Governors Island and

stumbled upon the FAD market which happens every month this summer.

I love markets like these that feature amazing local artists.

Look at this hair clip and these food candles! SO CUTE!

We then tried the outdoor obstacle course nearby and played some badminton.

There were water stations on the island and to our surprise, sheep as well!

We went to Hammock Grove to relax and I read a little before heading

to slide hill, home to the longest slide in NYC.

I was scared at first, but it was so fun that I went multiple times.

If you're like me and like more chill hikes, I highly recommend this easy hike.

The panoramic views of the city was breathtaking.

I spotted others hiking up another hill. I'll have to try that next time.

• bring food! We packed a picnic and was well stocked 
• art materials if you wanna do the art activity - blue and white paint, paintbrush, paper/ small canvas, glue 
• there are ice cream vendors walking around the beach as well! 

Head to Rockaway beach

Did you know you can take the ferry to Rockaway Beach and get there in under an hour?

If you're looking for beach gear like towels and chairs,

we got ours from Target for under $10 each item,

The waves were huge and everyone was having the best time in the water.

I really wanted to make a little art piece that

we could bring home and commemorate the beach day.

So I had this idea to paint the sea and use glue to add sand and seashells.

It's super beginner friendly and I'm literally going to think about this beach

day every time I see our artwork hung up in our home.

We took the ferry back during sunset and the views were amazing.

it was time for Gary Ferrar's magic show.

part out because this magician was mischievous.

but then he would close the loop later on.

It was really well orchestrated and highly theatrical,

He definitely had us all walking away quite mystified and wondering how he did it.

we could see him having his own show in Vegas one day.

he has a show about once a month of the Algonquins,

so definitely try to catch him while he has his residency.

Take Metro North to Croton Harmon, then Uber to Croton Gorge Park for scenic waterfall views, a relaxing picnic, and an easy hike to the dam top!

• get metro north tickets to Croton Harmon $11.25 one way
• bring everything you need (we packed a ton of food)
• once at Croton Harmon, get an uber to Croton Gorge Park (~$10) 

💪 Pro tips
• we saw people grilling - bring your own grill and everything you need if you want to barbecue 
• go early, we got there at 9am 
• it can get crowded and if you’re driving entrance fee is $10 and parking is limited
• highly recommend doing the footpath to the top of the dam (don’t bring too many things if you want to do this or take turns to go up)

Take the metro north to Croton Harmon 

amazing waterfall views that's easy to get to?

This is your sign to take the Metro North from

Grand Central to Croton Harman in under an hour.

Then take a 7 minute Uber to reach Croton Gorge Park and enjoy these stunning views.

We found a picnic table right under a tree with a view of the waterfall dam,

and enjoyed the views while feasting on all the food we brought.

An ice cream truck pulled up and we definitely got some!

We played some badminton and games we brought before

following the footpath to the top of the dam.

It was only 12 minutes to reach the top and oh wow,
