• Bring sneakers or hiking shoes since the terrain can be wet, muddy, and dense with flora. 
• The farm dinner prepared by Chef Paul Ladeira was the highlight of our experience. I highly recommend you indulge in these experiences for at least one night of your stay! You can add on a wine pairing for an additional fee.

💪 Pro tips
• Their cherry turnover was to-die-for! I recommend getting a variety of pastries to enjoy and share with others.
• The homestead at the bakery also sells apothecary goods. Ask the owners, Dorian and Carmina, for more information if you're interested in trying their homemade products.

Enjoy a picturesque wine tasting at Frenchtown Farms, where you can also tour the vineyard and learn about their nature-connected winemaking philosophy.

• It costs $50 per person for a group tasting of up to 10 people, and $150 for the vineyard tour and tasting per person. All fees are deductible from purchases of bottles.

• The bottles are so well-priced; be sure to snag a few after your tasting (my favorite was the Pearl Thief!) 
• Wear warm clothes and comfortable shoes as you will be trekking through the vineyard terrain and tasting at a higher altitude. 

Wine Tasting at Frenchtown Farms

I had the privilege of ringing in my new year

reconnecting with nature, and taking some time to slow down at

a unique agritourism experience at the foothills of the Sierra Mountains.

Blue Ruby Farm takes inspiration from European agricultural tourism

showcasing a landscape rich with wildlife,

We drove up on a Friday evening and settled into the space.

Our hosts Paul and Stephanie greeted us with wine and dessert.

waking up to a striking view of the lake and sunny skies.

We enjoyed some coffee from the French press,

and then all headed out for the morning to Artisan Lavinia, 

a bakery nestled within a homestead preparing fresh pastries and loaves.

We enjoyed breakfast in the company of our hosts and fellow farm stayers,

then parted ways for the afternoon for our various adventures.

My friend and I headed to Daughtery Hill for a scenic

morning hike where we encountered free roaming cattle and wonderful views.

goods and headed to Frenchtown Winery for our afternoon tasting.

The owner and winemaker Cara met us for a tour of the

vineyards, explaining their philosophy of connecting

to nature through farming and cultivating a 

practice of making wine that honors the grapes.

We perched at the hilltop of the vineyards overlooking the valley,

tasting a few of their unique and delicious wines,

and surely grabbing a bottle or two to go.

We headed back to the farm stay for our dinner prepared by Paul,

whose culinary journey has taken him through

some of the country's most prestigious kitchens,

We enjoyed a four course meal together with some fantastic wines to pair.

everything from the farm fresh cured olives to the

impeccable pork shoulder roasted over the outdoor wood fire.

We woke yet to another gorgeous view and spread of freshly prepared food and coffee,

then got dressed for our tour of the farm.

Stephanie and Paul shared about their commitment and stewardship to the land

and showed us some distinct and unique features of the farm ecosystem.

We ended our trip on this inspiring note and

then parted with our hosts and fellow guests.

I cannot recommend a stay at Blue Ruby Farm enough.

Aside from the immaculate culinary experience,

we took away a deeper knowledge and appreciation for

as well as newfound connections and friendships.

which made the entire Evening feel playful and immersive.

soundtrack in perfect sync with the film.

We started at the Ferry Building with an adorable gingerbread moment,

and then it snapped into 3 more spectacular projections,

where the projections felt like you're inside a giant kaleidoscope.
