• You can also book the Eastern Getaway House, but what I loved about this one was the location near the lake!
• They provide kitchen utensils (pots, bowls, paper towels, soap), towels, and pretty much everything you need!
• Download the map for the cabins, you won't have reception as you get close to your Getaway House.
• Bring your favorite games, books, and snacks, this is a perfect opportunity to relax and unplug.

💪 Pro tips
• We brought our own food, and the kitchen had all the basics to prep a meal 🙌🏼
• There aren't any restaurants close by, you'll have to drive at least 10 minutes to the closest one. I recommend grabbing dinner at Roscoe, NY, since they have more restaurant options!
• If you visit on a clear night, make sure to go outside when it's dark, we got to see the stars with the naked eye, and it was phenomenal!

Head to the Getaway House in the Western Catskills

Visit Pepacton Reservoir for a scenic walk to the lake, accessible via a short trail. Wear proper shoes as the path can be muddy.

• They have parking available, but you can also walk from your cabin (it's no more than a ~10-minute walk from the cabins).
• To get to the lake, you'll walk for 3 minutes on a trail, but be careful; it can be muddy! Use proper shoes!

When was the last time you really got away, unplugged and enjoyed nature?

Well, let me tell you how to have the Coziest weekend at the Getaway House.

As soon as we arrived at our tiny home in the woods,

and the place comes equipped with everything you need for an extended stay.

We made sure to bring our favorite snacks and the mini kitchen

made it easy to prepare our comfort food for the night.

The next morning waking up to forest views, set a relaxing tone for the day,

and made it so easy to reconnect with myself. And to make the morning even better,

We lit our fire pit and fresh-brewed  some coffee to enjoy with our breakfast.

Warming up by the fire with toasty s’mores

was the perfect start to our day. Before heading home, we made a quick stop at the Pepacton Reservoir 

 and this peaceful lake felt like the cherry on top of the whole trip.

This newly opened contemporary coastal restaurant in Rittenhouse Square is serving up

some of the best seasonal bites and sips in the city.

which is the sister restaurant of critically acclaimed River Twice.

starting off with some stellar raw bar options, which pair perfectly with the Magnolia Spritz- 

paying homage to the trees lining the front entrance.

the oysters with Alabama white and house-made hot sauce,

the humongous shrimp with smoked catsup and a hefty helping of horseradish

the stars of the show had to be the soft shell crab sammy

and the Caesar-like Martini- made with a very memorable Parmesan vodka.

I'll most definitely be back to enjoy more seafood, spritzes, 

martinis, and more, outside under the blossoms.

Day Trip to Rivers & Streams

Explore Kelly's Run Nature Preserve in Holtwood; hike through streams, rock scrambles, and enjoy picturesque views from Pinnacle Overlook.

• Alltrails: Kelly's Run Loop Trail
https://www.alltrails.com/explore/recording/evening-hike-at-kelly-s-run-loop-trail-dd111a7?sh=gayle-zheng&utm_campaign=memory&unfurl=false&showMemory=true.  I took the Kellys Run Trail in combination with the Pinnacle Overlook in Susquehannock State Park to make a loop. This added up to almost six miles.
• The trail can be hard to follow sometimes—follow the map and the blazes. Double blazes mean the path is changing direction sharply or there’s a feature to get past.
• Wear hiking shoes for the rock scrambles or water shoes so you can wade through the many stream crossings.
• I brought my own lunch (recommended), but there are a few places to eat around. Lancaster, PA is the closest town.
• If you come in the autumn, the pawpaws will be ripe. You are actually allowed to pick up and eat these delicious juicy fruits from the ground but not from the tree.

Hike Kelly’s Run Nature Preserve

This hike will take you along a bubbling stream to the Susquehanna River.

Soon you'll hit the tributary and follow it all the way downstream.

of picturesque spots and little micro waterfalls.

I can imagine the water being super refreshing to jump in during summer,

and you get a taste of that during spring because

the trail crosses back and forth over it multiple times.

you'll take a sharp right to climb up for a better view,

and I do mean climb because the first part of

the pinnacle trail is steep and requires some rock scrambling.

At the top you can see the cheaters who drove here

Soak it all in for a moment and eat lunch if you brought it.

you can see raptors and the river glinting through the trees.

Once you're back on the original Kelly's Run trail,

Take a quick detour through the stream one last

time or balance beam across this disused bridge.
