Take Hwy 14 out to the Columbia River Gorge. Stop at The Cabin Drive Thru for coffee in Stevenson, WA. The drive about 45 more minutes to get to the trailhead of Lyle Cherry Orchard. After your hike you can stop at Domaine Pouillon Wine Bistro for a snack and a glass of wine. If you pack your own drinks, you can find some picnic tables at Lake Chamberlain Rest Area.

Enjoy the paved, leafy trails of the Banks Vernonia Trail, gorgeous at any time of year but especially amazing in the fall! Then stop at Tualatin Estate Vineyards, just a few minutes away, to enjoy some wine and scenic vistas.

but it's also perfect for strolling with dappled shade and lots of gorgeous trees.

The Columbia Gorge is 1.5 hours outside of Portland and is home to

Cascade Mountains' diverse microclimate and soils.

This winery has a beautiful patio with vines covering the roof

and pillars and an uninterrupted view of the Columbia River.

Our wine tasting came out as a flight during

which we ate a great pizza from the kitchen.

This is definitely a place with more options for food,

Our tasting here felt very relaxed and we love this place for a chill start to the day.

Their tables are scattered throughout this luscious garden,

and we found this beautiful secluded spot to sit while we enjoyed our pours.

They even had complimentary nuts to munch on while you drink.

I love this place for the tranquil scenery,

and they had some of my favorite wine of the day.

Last stop on our road trip was South Hill Vineyards and Winery.

This stop had the best view of the day and during your tasting,

you get to enjoy it in your perfectly positioned Adirondack chairs.

They provided blankets to get cozy and had some

prepackaged food we could eat when we got hungry.

The best part is that none of these wineries required reservations,

so we truly got to meander around and enjoy the moment.

Rent crab rings and bait at Garibaldi Marina, then spend the day crabbing off the dock. Don't forget your shellfish license and a cooler for your catch!

• You can rent rings and buy bait at the marina. 
• bring a cooler with freezer packs for crabs. The cold makes them “hibernate”. Leave the cooler cracked as well.

• All the seasoned catchers were using chicken drumsticks as bait 
• Get there early to claim a good spot on the dock
• If you’re going to keep a crab, fill the bucket with water
• There’s a crab cleaning station at the marina
